LASIK

The term LASIK is synonymous with freedom from Eyeglasses & Contact lenses. LASIK is a popular laser refractive procedure that is carried out all over the world. LASIK eye surgery involves using an excimer laser to reshape the cornea and correct refractive impairments. With the LASIK procedure, the cornea helps focus light to create clear images on the retina. hence letting the person see sharply.

LASIK treats refractive disorders, including Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism

  • Myopia: A condition in which things far away look blurry, but things close up appear sharp.
  • Hyperopia: A condition in which things close up look blurry, but things far away look clear.
  • Astigmatism: Those with vision that is distorted or blurry at all distances because the eye or lens is not shaped correctly.

It is common for people to have both astigmatism and either Myopia or Hyperopia.

Types of Refractive Surgeries ( LASIK and Beyond LASIK )

Standard LASIK: Your surgeon uses a blade (Microkeratome) and then, with an excimer laser, corrects corneal aberrations to focus light on the retina. This allows the person to see sharply.

Contoura Vision: A flap with or without blades is made, and 22,000 spots on the corneal bed are mapped and reshaped precisely to improve vision.

Femto LASIK: This is a Swiss-made laser procedure in which a surgeon creates a flap without using a blade. In the second step, the surgeon changes the shape of the eye tissue with a laser to focus light on the retina to restore the best possible vision.

Trans PRK: With this method of refractive vision correction, no flap is created; a laser is applied to the corneal surface, and a contact lens is implanted.

Presbyond: Also known as Blended LASIK, it corrects vision among 40-plus-aged individuals with presbyopia by adjusting one eye to see closely and the other eye to see far away.

SMILE: This is also known as flapless LASIK as it does not require the creation of a flap and instead makes a lenticule through a small 4mm incision in the eye without using a blade. SMILE is a flapless, painless procedure with minimal dryness.

SMILE Pro: An advancement to SMILE, this is the latest and fastest method of refractive vision correction. SMILE Pro is a single-step, all-laser lenticular procedure approved by the American FDA for its safety, precision, and best vision results.

Is LASIK Surgery Right for You?

Not everyone can choose LASIK as a means of getting freedom from eyeglasses or the daily dependence on contact lenses. • Have stable eye power for at least one year
  • Your age should be between 18 and 40 years
  • You should have well-developed eyes with enough corneal thickness
  • You should not be pregnant or breastfeeding
